Father (on the phone with neighbor Dato):

დათო, როდის მოხვედი ჩვენთან? გუშინ მოხვედი თუ გუშინწინ?

dato, rodis mokhvedi chventan? gushin mokhvedi tu gushints'in?

"Dato, when did you come to our place? Did you come yesterday or the day before?"

Nino (whispering to Mother):

"მოხვედი"?? მოდის, მოვდივარ... სად წავიდა "დი"? ეს სხვა სიტყვაა!

"mokhvedi"?? modis, movdivar... sad ts'avida "di"? es skhva sit'q'vaa!

""მოხვედი"?? მოდის, მოვდივარ... where did the "di" go? This is a different word!"

Father (still on the phone):

რა თქვი? არაფერი? დათო, რა უთხარი ბაბუას, როცა მოვიდა?

ra tkvi? araperi? dato, ra utkhari babuas, rotsa movida?

"What did you say? Nothing? Dato, what did you tell grandfather when he came?"

Nino (eyes wide):

"თქვი"? "უთხარი"?? ვამბობ-ის სად არის?! მამა, ამბობ სხვაა, თქვი სხვაა, უთხარი სხვაა!

"tkvi"? "utkhari"?? vambob-is sad aris?! mama, ambob skhvaa, tkvi skhvaa, utkhari skhvaa!

""თქვი"? "უთხარი"?? Where's ვამბობ?! Dad, ამბობ is one thing, თქვი is another, უთხარი is yet another!"

Father (hanging up):

დათოს ვუთხარი: "მოდი ჩვენთან." ის მოვიდა, ორი ბოთლი მოიტანა და მისცა ბაბუას.

datos vutkhari: "modi chventan." is movida, ori botli moit'ana da mistsa babuas.

"I told Dato: "Come to our place." He came, brought two bottles, and gave them to grandfather."

Mother (to Nino):

ეს შენი ძველი მეგობრები არიან — Module 2-ის "shapeshifters"! მოსვლა, თქმა, მიცემა. აორისტში სახეს იცვლიან.

"These are your old friends — the Module 2 "shapeshifters"! მოსვლა, თქმა, მიცემა. In the aorist, they change their faces."

Grandfather (from his bench):

ინგლისურშიც ასეა: go — went, say — said, give — gave. ყველაზე საჭირო სიტყვები — ყველაზე არაწესიერი.

💡The four most common action verbs in Georgian completely change their stems in the aorist — just like English go→went, say→said. You saw these verbs in Module 2 for recognition. Now you'll learn to PRODUCE them.
