🎬 DiscoverEvening in Tbilisi — the family has just returned from their road trip. A welcome-home supra is being prepared. Grandfather goes down to the marani (wine cellar) to fetch his special wine.

Grandfather (excited):

ახლა ჩემს განსაკუთრებულ ღვინოს მოვიტან! ორმოცდაათი წლის!

akhla chems gansak'utrebul ghvinos movit'an! ormotsda-ati ts'lis!

"Now I'll bring my special wine! Fifty years old!"

Narrator:

(ბაბუა მარანში ჩადის... წუთი გადის... ორი წუთი...)

(babua maranshi chadis... ts'uti gadis... ori ts'uti...)

"(Grandfather goes down into the marani... a minute passes... two minutes...)"

Grandfather (pale, returning):

ღვინო... აღარ არის. ჩემი ორმოცდაათწლიანი ღვინო — გაქრა!

ghvino... aghar aris. chemi ormotsda-atts'liani ghvino — gakra!

"The wine... is gone. My fifty-year wine — it vanished!"

Father:

რა?! რა მოხდა?

ra?! ra mokhda?

"What?! What happened?"

Grandfather:

ვინმემ წაიღო! ვინმემ ჩემი ღვინო წაიღო!

vinmem ts'aigho! vinmem chemi ghvino ts'aigho!

"Someone took it! Someone took my wine!"

Nino:

ბაბუ, როდის? როგორ? ვინ?

babu, rodis? rogor? vin?

"Grandpa, when? How? Who?"

💡Listen to the words: გაქრა (it vanished), მოხდა (it happened), წაიღო (someone took it). These verbs describe things that are DONE — completed actions. Until now, you've been working with verbs that describe ongoing or future actions. Welcome to Series II — where we talk about what already happened.
