Father (driving, pointing ahead):

გვირაბი! შევდივართ — და მერე გავდივართ მეორე მხრიდან.

gvirabi! shevdivart — da mere gavdivart meore mkhrid-an.

"A tunnel! We go IN — and then we go OUT the other side."

Grandfather (looking at the mountains):

ხედავ? გზა ადის, ადის... და მერე ჩადის ხეობაში.

khedav? gza adis, adis... da mere chadis kheoba-shi.

"See? The road goes UP, UP... and then goes DOWN INTO the valley."

Mother (reading the map):

აქ ხიდზე გადავდივართ — მეორე ნაპირზე.

ak khidze gadavdivart — meore nap'irze.

"Here we go ACROSS on the bridge — to the other bank."

Nino (excitedly):

ბაბუ, ერთი სიტყვა — "დის" — ყველგან! მაგრამ წინ ყოველთვის სხვაა!

babu, erti sit'q'va — "dis" — q'velgan! magram ts'in q'ovelt'vis skhvaa!

"Grandpa, one word — "dis" — is everywhere! But what's in front always changes!"

Grandfather (smiling):

ეს "სხვები" რვაა — რვა მიმართულება. ოთხი უკვე იცი!

es "skhvebi" rvaa — rva mimartuleba. otkhi ukve itsi!

"Those "others" are eight — eight directions. You already know four!"

💡Five preverbs in one scene: შე- (INTO the tunnel), გა- (OUT the other side), ა- (UP the mountain), ჩა- (DOWN INTO the valley), გადა- (ACROSS the bridge). Same root — -დის. Same endings. Only the preverb changes. Nino noticed: the word 'dis' is everywhere, but what's in front keeps changing. Today we learn all 8 "away" preverbs — not as a list to memorize, but as a spatial system of pairs.
