Father:

მივდივარ სამსახურში! ნახვამდის!

mivdivvar samsakkhurshi! nakhvamdis!

"I'm going to work! Goodbye!"

Mother (answering the phone):

ვინ მოდის? ბებია მოდის?!

vin modis? bebia modis?!

"Who's coming? Grandma is coming?!"

Grandmother (on the phone):

მოვდივარ! საჩუქარი მაქვს ბავშვებისთვის!

movdivvar! sachuqari makvs bavshvebistvis!

"I'm coming! I have a gift for the children!"

Dato (excited):

ბებია მოდის! ბებია მოდის!

bebia modis! bebia modis!

"Grandma is coming! Grandma is coming!"

Father (at the door, turning back):

კარგი, წავალ. საღამოს მოვალ.

k'argi, ts'aval. saghamoss moval.

"OK, I'll go. I'll come back in the evening."

Nino (to Dato):

ბებია გუშინ მოვიდა ქუთაისიდან.

bebia gushin movida kut'aisidan.

"Grandma came from Kutaisi yesterday."

💡Did you catch what just happened? "Going" (მივდივარ) and "coming" (მოვდივარ) use the same root di-, just with different preverbs: მი- = away, მო- = toward. But look at Father's "I'll go" (წავალ) and "I'll come" (მოვალ) — the root completely changed! di- became val-. And Nino's "she came" (მოვიდა) uses yet another root: vid-. This verb is a shapeshifter.
